Best Gifts for Skiers

Do you have a loved one who is mad about skiing?

Would you like to buy him or her a ski related gift but not sure what to buy?

Do you worry if it’s the right make or model, or really something they will use?

Here is a handy list of super cool, super useful gift ideas that every skier would love to own.

Dynastar Cham 2.0 87

All skiers need skis so let’s start here.

There are different skis for different snow conditions however it’s not possible to take three pairs of skis on holiday so we recommend an all mountain ski that works brilliantly on all terrain.

The latest Dynastar Cham is a great all mountain ski that will tackle all snow conditions with ease. It’s flexible enough for good intermediate skiers however stiff and responsive enough for advanced skiers.

GoPro Hero 4

As you probably know, a GoPro is a small waterproof video camera that has been designed for extreme sports. It is unquestionably the best video camera on the market and comes with various attachments to fix onto your helmet, body or ski pole. It’s a great way for people to take video of their friends, themselves and epic ski adventures.

Avalanche backpack

If you are buying a present for someone who is an advanced skier and ventures off-piste then we highly recommend an avalanche backpack. This is a normal looking rucksack however it has a safety cord that you can pull if you are in / near an avalanche; this detonates an airbag which pops out of the rucksack and will help keep you on the surface of the avalanche.

Scott has a really stylish range with the latest airbag technology, plenty of storage space, goggle pockets and helmet carry systems.

Ski Socks

Almost all skiers have received ski socks for Christmas, but (not wanting to sound ungrateful) it’s better to get some decent ones rather than a basic tube sock featuring a reindeer on skis.

Ski socks are a great present but it’s worth spending a bit extra and getting a decent pair such as the Salomon Compression sock which is shaped to foot, breathable and has padding in all the right places.

Goggles

A good pair of ski goggles is essential and most skiers would love to own a pair of POC goggles. POC is the fastest growing brand in the ski industry over the past few year, it’s super cool and will probably catch up with Oakley as the most popular goggle brand.

Helmet

We recommend the Julbo Symbios Connect; this is a high end helmet with integrated visor, air venting and magnetic closing system however what makes this helmet so cool is the built-in Bluetooth technology that enables you to make phone calls and listen to music with the integrated speakers and microphone.

Ski lessons

Not all great presents need to be tangible and all skiers, no matter how good they are, would benefit from a lesson or off-piste guide.

A ski lesson makes a great present and will make a big difference to someone’s ski holiday. If you are skiing in Chatel we recommend Blue Chilli who have a brilliant team of young, dynamic ski instructors who offer private lessons for skiers of all abilities.
